Just watched a video of people working at picking vegetables, damn I worked construction as a young man pick and shovel work in the 50s, lugging crap, in the sun and in the winter, but the pay was union pay and damn good for the times! There is no way I would have liked doing their job.
I don't know if they are migrants or not and I doubt the pay is decent, but what would we be paying for our food if that was a union job.
I'd guess they are there because they have to be to get by...or maybe they like the work

 

We've had over 21,000 Kiwi return home during covid.

(so it is inevitable we will have new import cases , as many are returning from high risk places , like India , Pakistan , the US and Europe and South America)

over 20,000 have been in quarantine .
Currently about , or over 4,000 are in quarantine at any time ,
and possibly still rising .

We are still having up to about 8,000 tests done per day.

We have not had any new local/community spread for over 42 days.

We will continue to have Kiwi returning for the foreseeable future ,
at hundreds a day ,
and thousands a week ,

All requiring quarantining and or isolation , for 14 days , or more.
That is a massive amount of managed accommodation required in a constant cycle of inwards and outwards ,
in a relatively small country.


(So while we're very pissed off with the recent failings , and misleading , and things like "compassionate exemptions" etc.
It is a difficult and new environment ,
and
It dose have to be put into perspective)

At the same time , it dose not excuse Muppets behaving like and or employing Bunnies.
